Design Development 5

Okay, so below is the initial development using the 'dayflash' typeface. I want to produce a unique design which is intricate and stylish. In the beginning stages of the logo design i wanted to use a more hand-rendered font - but at this stage of the design process and having gathered research into existing record label logos - i feel it would be more suitable.

The first problem i came across was the layout - i wanted to make the 'o' legible and read as the counter for the 'd'. However once i laid this out - the 'd' became less legible and could be mistaken for a 'c'.

Below: Still developing the 'd' to become more legible and allow the 'o' to work and the counter - its proving a bit harder than i first thought.

Below: I decided to use what was already there - each letterform in this font is made of curves. After trying to make the 'd' more legible (above) using flat stems etc - i decided to try the same technique using the curves from the existing bowl of the d.
